We’re just as surprised as you are. The first Night at the Museum movie came out in 2006, and it was part of a three-movie series, with the second movie released in 2009 and the third in 2014. Now they’re looking at bringing it back to the big screen,

While there aren’t details on the plot, Deadline says it will “be a new story set at the museum with all-new characters.”

The original movie was based on the 1993 children’s book by Milan Trenc, and the films were led by Ben Stiller.

While there will be new characters in the movie, it has not been confirmed whether any actors from the original movies will make appearances.

Let’s say the internet is not thrilled at a beloved family movie going through the ringer. One commenter said, “Absolutely pathetic. Rebooting a franchise that’s not even 20 years old. Hollywood, go sit in the corner.”

Tripper Clancy has been recruited to write the script. Clancy is known for Stuber (2019), I Am Not Okay with This (2020), and Die Hart (2020).

There’s currently no release date set for the movie, but it’s in the script-writing phase, so we have some time before then. We’ll be sure to keep our eye on this to see any updates, so make sure you keep following AllEars for more!
