Disney World offers hotel options for everyone, from Value Tier resorts designed for those who are planning to maximize their time at the parks to deluxe resorts packed with opulent amenities, and pretty much everything in between. However, this variety of options also means that there are Disney hotels are decidedly NOT for everyone.

Take, for example, Pop Century. We’re overall fans of this hotel, thanks to its kitschy 20th-century decor and fascinating history. However, as a recent reader review shows, not everyone agrees.

In a June 2025 review, reader Maitlyn15 gave the hotel a 3/10 rating, and wrote of Pop Century, “Worst Disney hotel I’ve stayed at. Theming is blah. Rooms are small and feel motel-ish and not as clean as other value resorts. Skyliner is the only plus about this resort. My advice is to spend the extra money and stay at AOA, it’s FAR superior.”
Ouch.
Just in case that left any doubts, they specified the cons of the hotel as “Rooms are small. Theming is less than. And hotel feels dirty”, while the only pro was the Skyliner.

While not quite as negative as Maitlyn15’s, reader KyleM gave a middling opinion of the resort in April of 2025. They wrote, “After staying in three resorts on the Skyliner, Pop Century is my least favorite. The resort is updated and comfortable, but we were surrounded by cheerleaders. I did know this going in, but it was slightly annoying. No marks taken away for that. The resort felt very spread out, even more so than Caribbean Beach. I think this is because it felt very crowded and tight. I liked Art of Animation slightly better because it felt more open. The food offerings seemed better than at Art, but not as good as Caribbean Beach. We did ride the Skyliner to CB and to the Boardwalk for supper most nights. This is a great resort for the money and little kids. Watch the Wide World of Sports schedule because this is the closest resort and many teams stay here.”

We have gotten a positive review of Pop Century this month, though, as reader HannahGrace wrote in February: “Honestly, I’ll always be a Pop Century gal! I have stayed here multiple times, most recently in October 2024. The larger-than-life theming is fun and brings the magic back from the park with you. Room re-theme a couple of years ago drastically helped it feel more modern and updated. Skyliner access is obviously a highlight of Pop that makes it stand out, but even so, I will choose Pop over AoA any day. I love the theme and energy. Quick service options get the job done.”

We will say we have really enjoyed for previous stays at this hotel. But we can acknowledge that everyone has different preferences!
While Pop Century remains one of Disney’s most popular hotels, several of our readers had less than kind things to say about the value-tier hotel this year. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Disney World!

Pop century is our favorite. Same food as aoa and we feel at home here. Sky liner is fabulous. This is our go to resort.
We stayed there once. It was clean but the room was quite small and so was the bathroom.my biggest complaint was the lack of places to put your clothes anyone suitcases once they were emptied.
