If you’ve ever traveled in or out of Orlando International Airport (MCO) and noticed that your flights seem more delayed than at other airports, as it turns out, you may be right.

MCO Airport in Orlando is one of the busiest airports in the United States (ranking in the Top 10), and with its climate, it’s not uncommon for there to be delays. However, a new study has just confirmed that Orlando Airport is, in fact, the FIFTH most delayed airport in the country.
According to USA Today, a new study on airports has confirmed the list of the top 10 most delayed airports in the United States for 2024. MCO Airport landed at number five, but you may be surprised by the others on the list!

The full list can be found below!
- Philadelphia Airport: 76.7% of on-time arrivals
- Newark Airport: 76.2% of on-time arrivals
- Boston Airport: 76.1% of on-time arrivals
- Austin Airport: 76% of on-time arrivals
- Miami Airport: 75% of on-time arrivals
- San Diego Airport: 74.6% of on-time arrivals
- Orlando Airport: 74.6% of on-time arrivals
- Dallas/Fort Worth Airport: 74% of on-time arrivals
- Tampa Airport: 73.9% of on-time arrivals
- Fort Lauderdale Airport: 73.9% of on-time arrivals
- San Francisco Airport: 68.9% of on-time arrivals

What’s interesting here is that FOUR of Florida’s airports are on this list, which isn’t great. It means that no matter which of these four Florida airports you fly into, there’s a pretty high chance you could run into a delay.

Now, if you’re looking for a way to avoid delays, we recommend flying earlier in the morning, because afternoon storms due to high temperatures can cause delays due to lightning.
