If stroller wagons are banned in Disney World, why do we still see them, and why aren’t they allowed?

Disney World has some strict policies in place to keep guests safe. One of these policies states, “Wagons are prohibited at any theme park or water park. Wagons are prohibited at indoor venues at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.” But why is this rule in place when SO many families use wagons regularly?
1. Wagons Take Up More Space
Disney’s policy says that strollers that are greater than 31″ (79 cm) in width and 52″ (132 cm) in length are prohibited. Stroller wagons are also prohibited. While stroller wagons can be convenient for families, they do take up more space. They are usually longer, and it could make navigating in the parks more difficult for everyone.

2. Wagons Can Be More Difficult to Fold
When you are utilizing Disney World’s free transportation, you are likely going to need to fold up strollers and wagons can be more difficult. This includes Disney buses, boats, and the Skyliner.

3. You Can Have One If You Have a Medical Exemption
So why might you still see some stroller wagons in the parks? Guests can receive a medical exemption if a wagon is needed for their travel party. If you do need an exemption, just head to Guest Relations outside of the park to receive a tag to place on the wagon.

Once you receive that medical exemption, it is good for 30 days. Please note that if you do bring a wagon and do not qualify for a medical exemption, you will have to return the wagon to your vehicle or hotel.

As a mama to special needs kiddos who elope, a wagon helps. It makes it harder for them to climb out and take off. We also have a canopy that can close off on all side which helps when my daughter feels overwhelmed and anxious about the crowds. I have 3 kids (4, almost 2 and 7 months) and they all utilize a stroller. It’s definitely more convenient than us pushing around 2 strollers. Most strollers are only equipped with 2 seats and a board for the 3rd. But when you have kids so close I’m age, especially at places like WDW, they need a seat.
