All aboard! If you’re heading on a Disney Cruise soon, listen to this new policy change.

If you were planning on adding the Vacation Protection Plan, you might not be able to add this upgrade. Here’s what just changed.
The Vacation Protection Plan is no longer available to guests outside the United States. This change is effective immediately.

To qualify for Vacation Protection Plan, you must now meet all of the following criteria:
- The booking origin, or travel agency, is based in either the United States or Canada
- The guest pays for the reservation in US dollars
- The individual guest has a United States address
The Disney Cruise Line Vacation Protection Plan covers your cruise before and after sailing. It can help if you need to cancel your trip beforehand for any reason. It also covers baggage losses or delays during the cruise.

Purchasing the protection policy is an optional add-on that you might choose for your trip, but keep in mind that it is now only available to US residents.

If you already purchased travel insurance for your upcoming cruise and don’t live in the United States, don’t worry — your policy is still being honored.

There’s been a lot of news for Disney Cruise Line, including new shows and four more ships. The Disney Treasure is the newest ship on the fleet, which we got to view last year. Spoiler alert: we LOVED it!

This was an interesting policy change on Disney’s side, considering the large number of international travelers, but we’ll keep you updated on everything happening on Disney Cruise Lines. Make sure you’re following AllEars to be the first to know.

Do you always purchase travel insurance, or do you skip the add-on? In the comments, let us know which you prefer.
I always do purchase trip insurance for cruises. Hopefully will never have to use it.
Doing a quick check, this seems to be the policy of other US based cruise lines (Royal Caribbean as an example). I would assume travelers from other countries could get coverage through travel companies.
It would interesting so see if this new policy is also true for other cruise lines that sail out of US ports. It could be this is some new international travel insurance policy.
