Disney World offers free transportation between the parks, hotels, and Disney Springs via buses, the monorail, the Skyliner, and boats. Thinking about which transportation options are at your Disney resort can help you decide where to stay! While each transportation comes with pros and cons, there is one con that you might not even know about yet.

Between Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts: Riverside and French Quarter, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and Disney’s Saratoga Springs and Spa, there is a boat system called the Sassagoula River Cruise. These boats run as transportation between Disney Springs and the resorts in that area. However, it is important to note that these boats might not be running during your stay.

We have seen in the past where the boats had been closed for a while because the water level was too low. We usually see this open starting in late spring and can even run into the summer months before Florida sees enough rain to bring back the perk.

If you are choosing these resorts for your upcoming trip for the boat perk, just keep in mind that they can close and it really will depend on the water levels. However, there is a walking path to Disney Springs from Saratoga Springs and Old Key West. There will also be Disney buses that run to Disney Springs as well.
