A Classic Disney California Adventure Ride Is PERMANENTLY Closed

It’s the end of an era! The Red Car Trolley at Disney California Adventure is permanently closed. In honor of the attraction’s last day of operation, we visited Disney California Adventure to say goodbye.

On Sunday, February 9th, 2025, the Disney website was updated to reflect Red Car Trolley’s permanent closure. Want to see what the closing-day crowds looked like at California Adventure? The lines might surprise you!

When we first arrived at Disney California Adventure on the Red Car Trolley’s last day of operation, we immediately noticed a LONG line at the attraction. Cast Members were limiting the ride to one-way only, and the Trolley wasn’t making any of its usual stops. This was more of a ceremonial sendoff than a real ride!

Look at the CROWD!

We ended up waiting about two hours for a ride on the Trolley. The line snaked all over the park — something you don’t normally see for this simple attraction.

The line was extra long!

We’re gonna miss this classic Disney attraction! It might not have been the fastest or the flashiest, but it was a simple and FUN way to see the park.

We’re gonna miss it!

The Red Car Trolley debuted in 2012 and offered daily rides up and down Buena Vista Street. The attraction included two replicas of early-to-mid 20th-century Los Angeles Pacific Electric trolley cars that are battery-powered (the wires and trolley poles are just for show).

How fun!

The ride’s closure had nothing to do with the attraction itself. Disney is removing the Red Car Trolley barn to make room for Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab — two NEW rides coming to the Avengers Campus expansion.

We’re sad to see this ride go, but we’re excited for the next chapter at Avengers Campus! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
