Nobody Under 35 Appreciates This EPCOT Restaurant Like They Should

If there’s one EPCOT restaurant that’s criminally underrated by anyone under 35, it’s the Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room.

Rose and Crown

This spot in the U.K. Pavilion of the World Showcase is steeped in old-world charm, but it’s not exactly hip or trendy. But what Rose and Crown does have is an authentic, cozy atmosphere, hearty comfort food, and drinks that could rival any EPCOT bar. Trust us – if you’ve been skipping this one because it seems outdated, you’re seriously missing out. Let’s dive into why this restaurant deserves more love, even if it’s not TikTok-worthy.

The Atmosphere: Old-School Charm

The Rose and Crown is like stepping into a classic English pub, complete with dark wood paneling, vintage decor, and a vibe that screams “cozy night in.” It’s the kind of place your grandparents would rave about, and honestly, they might be onto something.

While other EPCOT spots have gone modern or trendy, Rose and Crown has stayed true to its roots. From the wooden barstools to the molded ceilings, it’s all about those charming little details that transport you straight to the U.K. This isn’t your typical sterile theme park restaurant. It feels lived-in, like a real neighborhood pub.

But let’s be honest: if you’re under 35, you might walk in and think, “This is it?” There are no neon lights, no “Instagrammable” decor, and no over-the-top theming. And that’s exactly why it’s so special. This is a place to slow down, relax, and take a break from the chaos of Disney World, which is something we millennials and Gen Z-ers could definitely use more of.

The Food: Comfort Food Done Right

If you’re coming to Rose and Crown expecting flashy gourmet dishes, you’re going to be disappointed. This menu is all about British comfort food, and while it’s not groundbreaking, it’s downright satisfying.

Rose & Crown

Let’s start with the star of the show: the Fish and Chips. This is Rose and Crown’s signature dish, but here’s the catch – it’s nearly identical to the fish and chips you can grab at the quick-service Yorkshire County Fish Shop next door.

Fish and Chips

Sure, it’s tasty, but if you’re looking for value, Yorkshire might be the better bet. That said, the tartar sauce served at Rose and Crown is miles better than the prepackaged stuff at Yorkshire, so if condiments are your thing, this might sway you.

If you’re vegetarian or just looking for something different, the Savory Impossible Hot Pot is surprisingly great.

Think of it as a plant-based twist on shepherd’s pie, with perfectly seasoned Impossible meat and a mashed potato topping. Even the meat-eaters at your table might steal a bite (or five).

The real standout, though, is the Bangers and Mash. This dish is everything you’d want from a hearty pub meal – flavorful sausage, creamy colcannon potatoes, and a rich, savory gravy that ties it all together.

Just don’t expect to walk it off easily in the Florida heat. This dish is as heavy as it is delicious, so maybe save it for dinner when you’re winding down for the day.

And then there’s dessert. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is an absolute must-try.

Sweet, warm, and, yes, sticky, it’s like a hug in dessert form. Honestly, you’ll want to stop by Rose and Crown to have some of this.

The Drinks: The True MVP of Rose and Crown

If the food doesn’t win you over, the drink menu definitely will. Rose and Crown has an extensive selection of beers, ciders, and cocktails that’ll make any pub enthusiast swoon.

For cocktail lovers, the Cider and Fireball is a must-try. It’s sweet, cinnamon-forward, and packs a bit of a punch thanks to the Fireball Cinnamon Whisky. Just make sure you actually like Fireball before you order it because the flavor is strong.

And, of course, you can’t leave without ordering an Imperial Pint of Smithwick’s.

It’s smooth, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with just about anything on the menu.

Why Millennials and Gen Z Don’t “Get It”

So, why isn’t Rose and Crown more popular with the under-35 crowd? For starters, it’s not trendy. There’s no wow factor here, no flashy gimmicks, and no Insta-worthy backdrops. Compared to EPCOT’s other dining options, it might feel a little…boring.

And let’s face it, we’re the generation that loves convenience. Why sit down for fish and chips when you can grab the same dish next door and keep exploring? Why sip a pint in a quiet pub when you could be drinking a margarita in Mexico or having a crepe in France?

But here’s the thing: Rose and Crown isn’t about chasing trends or maximizing your park time. It’s about slowing down, soaking in the atmosphere, and enjoying the simple pleasure of good food and great drinks.

The Hidden Perks

One thing Rose and Crown does have going for it is its location. This restaurant sits right on the World Showcase Lagoon, and if you time your reservation right, you could score a prime view of EPCOT’s nighttime fireworks show.

In fact, some meals even come with access to a special fireworks viewing area. While this isn’t guaranteed, it’s worth asking your server about. Watching the fireworks with a pint in hand and a full stomach? That’s a Disney memory you won’t forget.

Don’t Sleep on Rose and Crown

Again, Rose and Crown isn’t the flashiest or most exciting restaurant in EPCOT, but that’s exactly why it deserves more love. It’s a cozy, welcoming spot that offers a little slice of the U.K. in the middle of Disney magic.

So, if you’re under 35, don’t write this place off. Give it a chance, and you might just find yourself coming back again and again for those hearty meals, refreshing drinks, and unbeatable atmosphere.

  1. My wife and I, was blessed once, at Rose and Crown and got the actual front row seat for Illuminations, back in Dec 2004. They had the vinyl walls down and we were seated abutting to the wall, as we were celebrating my wife’s 2yrs cancer free and our 28th anniversary. We were shocked when a couple of cast members came up, a couple of minutes before start of the Illumination show annd rolled the wall up. After all done, we notice every other person viewing was behind us. We both OMG! We could feel the heat from the flames, on our faces. We watched while thoroughly enjoying out dessert sampler. OMG, that was heaven on Earth way, to end a beautiful day at Disney, with my best friend, the love of my life. This year we celebrate our 49th anniversary.
