It is hard to beat soaring through space on Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom, saving the galaxy on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, admiring all the animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or visiting Hogwarts on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Universl’s Islands of Adventure.Â

However, even though the Orlando theme parks bring us so much joy and happiness, that doesn’t mean that injuries don’t happen on the attractions. We are taking a look at the ride injuries that were reported in 2024.
The major theme parks in Orlando, including Disney World, Universal, and SeaWorld, are all required to self-report serious injuries on rides where visitors are injured on an attraction and must be hospitalized for at least 24 hours. Each quarter, a MOU Exempt Facilities Report outlines all the injuries reported in the previous quarter.

We now have all the data about ride injuries that happened in 2024. In total, 46 injuries were reported at Disney World, Universal, and SeaWorld last year. Keep in mind those are only serious injuries that required hospitalization of at least 24 hours.

At first, 46 might seem like a high number, but keep in mind that millions and millions of people go to the Orlando theme parks each year, and less than 50 people were seriously injured at attractions between three parks last year. Of course, there were likely additional injuries that happened that didn’t require 24 hours of hospitalization.

You may be wondering what type of injuries occurred in 2024, so we wanted to highlight the most common injuries. Of the 46 injuries that were reported, we are taking a look at injuries that were reported five or more times:
- Loss of Consciousness: 10
- Nausea: 5
- Dizziness: 5
- Injury while entering/exiting attraction: 5
- Chest Pains: 5
- Seizure: 5

Other injuries include vomiting, motion sickness, shortness of breath, back pain, and others. However, all of these injuries were reported four times or fewer in 2024. Now that we have covered what injuries were reported, what attractions had the most injuries?

While more than 30 different attractions were listed in the report, even the rides with the most injuries only reported three each. The following attractions had the highest number of injuries reported:
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: 3
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster: 3
- Space Mountain: 3
- Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure: 2
- Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts: 2
- Revenge of the Mummy: 2
- TRON Lightcycle / Run: 2
- Frozen Ever After: 2
- Spaceship Earth: 2
- Kilimanjaro Safaris: 2

Every other attraction had one or fewer injuries reported in 2024. While some of the top attractions for injuries might come as no surprise, there are also quite a few attractions that you might not expect to see injuries on. Some of the biggest surprises for us included Spaceship Earth, Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, and Hogwarts Express.Â

However, injuries can happen at any attraction, and it is important to be cautious. Make sure you are reading warning signs before you get on a ride and know your body’s limitations. Also, make sure you are listening to your body. Although all injuries can’t be prevented, it never hurts to be prepared and cautious to limit injuries.

But Spaceship Earth??? 🤔
I was an injury in 2024 requiring transport to the hospital when some lady tripped me as she was rushing for the buses after the fireworks at Epcot. Broke my front teeth.
