Nothing beats a cozy day at home, curled up on the couch, streaming all your favorite movies and shows—especially when it’s on Disney+!

And if you ever wondered how many people enjoy their fair share of quality Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN time as well, Disney has just revealed their major streaming stats and spilled the tea on how they crunch the numbers. Let’s check it out!
At the 5th annual Tech and Data Showcase at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Disney’s President of Global Advertising, Rita Ferro, shared that ad-supported monthly active users are pulling in an average of 157 million users globally and 112 million in the U.S. and Canada every month over the last six months.

“Disney sits at the intersection of world class sports and entertainment content, with the most high-value audiences in ad-supported global streaming at scale,” states Rita Ferro. “We wanted to be the first to offer our industry greater transparency into the methodology used to estimate our engaged global ad-supported monthly active users.”

Unlike traditional TV advertising, there’s no universal rulebook for measuring global streaming ad audiences. So, Disney Advertising decided to create one.
Here’s how it works:
- Ad-supported monthly active user (MAU) numbers come from active accounts across Disney’s streaming platforms (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+)* that watch ad-supported content for at least 10 seconds.
- To estimate total users, they multiply each active account by the average number of users per account (globally, that’s 2.6, though it varies by app and region).
- These multipliers are based on first-hand survey data from over 13,000 people, ages 18-64, in regions with ad-supported tiers.

The current monthly prices for Disney’s streaming services are:
- Disney+ Basic (With Ads) — $9.99/month
- Disney+ Premium (No Ads) — $15.99/month
- Hulu (With Ads) — $9.99/month
- Hulu (Without Ads) — $18.99/month
- ESPN+ — $11.99/month
- Disney Duo Basic (With Ads) — $10.99/month
- Disney Duo Premium (Without Ads) — $19.99/month
- Disney Bundle Trio Basic (With Ads) — $16.99/month
- Disney Bundle Trio Premium (Without Ads) — $26.99/month
- Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (With Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads) —$82.99/month
- Hulu (Without Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (Without Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads) —$95.99/month
