Disney World is well known for its rides, food, and atmosphere, but its entertainment is also second to none.

There are stage shows, theater shows, fireworks shows, stunt shows, and more around Disney World. Each one is fun and entertaining in its own way! While some of the parks have a nighttime show, Animal Kingdom doesn’t for a lot of the year. However, seasonally, a beautiful projection show gets put on at the Tree of Life, and a new addition to this show was just recently brought to life.
The Tree of Life Awakenings projection show happens every winter when the sun sets earlier in the day. Typically, this park closes relatively early compared to the other three parks, due to the animals; this is why there isn’t usually a nighttime show here during the summer months — it stays light out longer than the park is open.

But since it now gets dark much earlier in the day, a nighttime light show is presented on the nights that Animal Kingdom is open until 7PM (be aware that the show does NOT happen on nights the park closes at 6PM). The show is the Tree of Life Awakenings, and it usually consists of a cute holiday show or another show featuring animals. But this year a new show has been added to the line up to celebrate the new movie Mufasa: The Lion King!

These shows start at 6:10PM and run until 7PM, playing every 10 minutes. The new Mufasa version of this show is played three times, while holiday shows are played twice and another show is played once within the hour. The new Mufasa show has new music and new “mystical animal images” to “tell the story of Mufasa’s unlikely rise to become the beloved king of the Pride Lands.”

The last show starts at 7PM, so you can stick around until the very end of the night to catch this last one if you would like. You can see these shows from the front of the Tree of Life all the way back to the Island Mercantile shop. All of the shows are fun to see and beautiful to behold.

If you want to see the new Mufasa Tree of Life Awakenings show, you’ll need to hurry over to Animal Kingdom soon as this show will only be around for a limited time. You can also catch the new movie Mufasa: The Lion King in theaters in now!
