This time of year is one of the busiest for traveling, and that includes air travel. However, it is also a time of year when weather and other issues can cause major flight delays. Unfortunately, that’s what we’re seeing at the Orlando International Airport today, December 21st.

If you’re flying out of Orlando International Airport today, you’ll want to be watching your flight status closely, as more than 200 flights have been delayed. As of 1:30PM ET, there have been 257 delays.

Most of these delays have been from Southwest Airlines (62), followed by JetBlue (60) and Delta (36). Other airlines have also been affected.

On Friday, a ground stop was issued at Chicago O’Hare due to snowy and ice conditions, while this winter weather continued into Saturday, according to ABC News. It is likely that this weather in the Northeast part of the country has had an impact on flights out of Orlando heading to destinations experiencing these conditions.

As you’re flying for the holidays over the next few weeks, MCO reminds travelers of the 3-2-1 rule:

  • 3 — Be at the ticket counter at least 3 hours before your flight.
  • 2 — Be at the security checkpoint 2 hours prior to your departure time.
  • 1 — Be at your gate 1 hour prior to your departure time.

This rule will ensure that you do not miss your flight or any updates to your flights status. It’s also a good idea to download and check the app of the airline you are using for any updates to your flight status. As you travel this holiday season, use these techniques to have a positive flight experience!
