This Is the WORST Time to Go to Disney World in 2025

As 2024 winds down, it is already time to start planning your 2025 vacation to Disney World.

Magic Kingdom

It can be hard to choose the best time of year to visit Disney World as it almost seems like there is no longer a slow season. Plus, Disney World will start to look completely different in 2025 with the opening of two new lounges, Test Track 3.0, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, the Villains Stage Show, and Zootopia: Better Zoogether.

With all these new offerings, plus construction across all four parks, we can expect Disney World crowds to go up in 2025. If you are looking to try to avoid the crowds, you are going to want to skip out on the following dates.

Many people choose to visit Disney World for special events, holidays, and school breaks, which is obviously when the parks and resorts are the most crowded. While crowds have started to get unpredictable, we expect to see higher crowd levels during these 11 dates in 2025.

New Year’s Day

There is nothing more magical than ringing in the New Year at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Disney World knows how to celebrate the New Year with celebrations in both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, plus there are specialty food offerings all across the resort.

Happy New Year!

Many people who choose to celebrate Christmas at Disney World tend to stick around for the week and celebrate the new year as well. Plus, the first week of the new year tends to be the final week of holiday decorations around Disney World, so you can expect the parks to be crowded.

Marathon Weekend – January 8th-12th

runDisney Marathon Weekends will return in 2025. The first one of the year is Marathon Weekend, which takes place from January 8th to the 12th. During runDisney Marathon Weekends, many runners and their families flock to Disney World to participate. One of the most excellent parts about a runDisney race is getting to run through the parks. Because of this, certain roads around Disney World will be closed in the early parts of the morning, so if you are visiting during this time, make sure to pencil in some extra travel time to the parks.

Princess Half Marathon Weekend – February 20th-24th

Shortly after Marathon Weekend is the Princess Half Marathon Weekend, which runs from February 20th to the 24th. As mentioned above, race weekends are crowded at Disney World. February tends to be less crowded since there are no school breaks, so if you want to visit Disney World in February, we recommend choosing any other weekend besides the Princess Half Marathon Weekend.

Spring Break

Crowds tend to pick up between mid-March and the end of April, as many schools have spring break during this time. Since schools have different schedules, the spring break crowds tend to last for about a month and a half.

Easter

While Easter falls into the spring break period, it is still an important date to mention. This year, Easter Sunday falls on April 20th, and to celebrate, the Magic Kingdom hosts a once-a-year parade. The Easter Parade only takes place on Easter Sunday, so many people will want to be in the Magic Kingdom to check it out. While you may not have to avoid all of Disney World on the holiday, we expect there to be crowds in the Magic Kingdom.

Summer Break

Memorial Day tends to be the unofficial start of the summer season at Disney World as many school breaks start. Not only will there be an influx of families vacationing, but the summer months in Central Florida are HOT, so if you are more of a cool weather lover, you may want to wait to visit until the winter months.

Summer crowds

3rd and 4th of July

While the majority of the summer period at Disney World is crowded, crowds really pick up for the Fourth of July holiday. Fourth of July is so big at Disney World that it is celebrated on two days on both the 3rd and 4th. During this time, you can expect to see special fireworks at both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.

4th of July

Thanksgiving Week

Crowds start to die down after the summer months and then begin to pick up again around the holiday season. By Thanksgiving Week, almost all of Disney World will be decorated for Christmas, and holiday offerings will have already started. Plus, many schools and offices are closed for the week or part of the week, making it easy for those with days off to travel to Disney World.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

While the crowds stay steady throughout the entire holiday season at Disney World, many people want to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the parks. Typically, the Magic Kingdom hosts Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade and Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks outside of party hours the week of Christmas, which makes the Magic Kingdom a popular park to visit during the holiday.

If you are brave enough to bare the crowds, Christmas Eve in the Magic Kingdom can be so magical, especially with the snoap on Main Street, but if you want to avoid the crowds, you will want to avoid visiting Disney World the week of Christmas.

New Year’s Eve

And just like that, we have gone through an entire year and are back in the new year. As mentioned before, both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT know how to ring in the new year. Just like the 3rd and 4th of July, Magic Kingdom hosts two fireworks shows to meet the demand on December 30th and 31st.
