It’s finally here! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is about to open in Disneyland.

While the Disney World version of this ride opened on June 28th in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, the Disneyland version of this ride will open very soon on November 15th! We got the chance to ride early, and we’ve been asked an important question — what are the differences between the two Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attractions?
Just like before, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland is a little bit shorter than the ride over in Disney World, which seems to make the pacing of the attraction a bit faster overall.

When we rode, we noticed that, unlike Magic Kingdom’s version, there seemed to be no “dead” spaces or random dark rooms on the ride. It flows more easily from one action scene to the next.

Many people that we spoke to who’d ridden both versions agreed that the pacing and “fullness” of the space seems to make this version a bit better than the Magic Kingdom version. You generally feel like there’s no downtime because you’re constantly moving through the story.

However, there is one complaint that we’ve heard about the ride — many people have said that the Disneyland version seems to be wetter than the Disney World ride. The big drop might make you more soaked overall, leaving you dripping throughout the day.

We didn’t notice this to be true when we rode during the media preview, but we realize that Disney may have toned things down a bit for the media — ya know, since we were all filming and taking pictures. We’ll be interested to see if things are different once it officially opens on November 15th.

The other big difference between the two versions is the ride vehicles. Just like Splash Mountain before, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on the West Coast has single-file seating logs, while the East Coast version sits passengers in pairs.

Of course, there are also plenty of things about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure that are the same as the Disney World ride. The plot is the same, and if you don’t know what’s going on ahead of time, it still may be slightly confusing as a rider.

In case you don’t know what’s going on, Tiana is planning a big party (the finale scene), and they’ve prepped everything for the event except the musical entertainment. So you end up following Louis and Tiana through the bayou to search for talented musicians to come to the event.

Both versions of the ride have the same main scenes and animatronics, including the stunning finale. And the theming in the queue is very similar as well.

The main difference between the queues is that the murals in Disneyland were hand-painted by the artist in Louisiana and then shipped back to California to be installed. Also, this version of the queue has a French-inspired pergola.

We can’t wait for more people to be able to experience this attraction — be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disneyland news!
