There is a LOT of construction going on in Disneyland right now.
You’ve got Tiana’s Bayou Adventure under construction, with the ride set to open in November — during that time, Critter Country will become Bayou Country. Then there’s construction happening around Haunted Mansion (which is currently Haunted Mansion Holiday), which recently reopened with a virtual queue because that construction is still underway. So, when can we expect that virtual queue to go away?
First, let’s take a look at what’s happening at Haunted Mansion. Disneyland recently revealed that the ride would be getting a new expanded queue to “immerse guests in enhanced theming.” The new queue will tie into the original stories and feature new gardens inspired by Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and the one-eyed cat. A water fountain and gazebo will be added, along with new statues and landscaping. There will even be a new greenhouse.
Haunted Mansion is also getting its very own dedicated gift shop next to the ride inside a carriage house which belongs to Madame Leota.
Construction began on the new queue about six months ago, and construction on that and the gift shop is still in progress. Recently, we’ve seen the frame for the gift shop begin to take shape near the ride.
The virtual queue for the ride is only temporary while Disney finishes up construction. Haunted Mansion Holiday will close again in January while Disney removes the overlay, and if we had to guess, we think this could also give Imagineers time to finish up the new queue and the gift shop. So our best guess is that we could see the virtual queue go away in early 2025, or at the latest, by spring 2025.
Of course, we won’t know for sure until Disneyland makes an official announcement, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for it, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
