I don’t know about you guys, but I am TERRIBLE at video games.

You may be sitting here going, “Okay, great, but what does that have to do with Disney?” A lot of things, actually. There have been many Disney video games over the years, such as Kingdom Hearts, Epic Mickey, and many more. Some of them require genuine gaming skills, which is where talents fail me. But I’ve got great news — if you’re looking for a Disney game to enjoy but you have zero skills like I do, I have just the game for you!
Disney Dreamlight Valley released initially in September of 2022, then officially in 2023 and has been a big hit ever since. Many players have related it to the playing style of Animal Crossing, and while I haven’t played that one myself, I can see the similarities!

I don’t do well with open-world games typically — I need for the game to tell me what to do and give my quests, and when I started playing, I was nervous that I would get bored, but that’s yet to happen! I haven’t had a chance to purchase the expansion for the game that came out in December of 2023, so all the quests I’m still experiencing are from the initial edition of the game, and I’ve still got a long way to go!

Disney continues to update the game with new characters, quests, and areas to explore as well. I feel like every time I get to log on (which isn’t often if I’m being totally honest) there’s something new for me to explore, so I never feel like I’m running out of things to do.

And if you’re someone who enjoys creating the perfect atmosphere of a game, or customizing your character’s wardrobe, there are plenty of options for that as well! I personally don’t really care what my characters Dreamlight Valley house looks like as long as I have enough chests to hold everything I need (right now that’s about 8 chests — your character’s backpack doesn’t hold a lot).

Truly, I get so excited whenever I have the time to play, because I won’t get frustrated with my lack of fighting skills like I do with other games, and I get to interact with some of my favorite Disney characters without being anywhere near the parks. I know there’s always something new to go back to, and a new quest to complete that won’t be solved in 0.2 seconds — it’s challenging without being frustrating, which is the perfect mix for me!

So the next time you’re looking for something fun to do every now and then and give you a little break from reality without traveling all the way to a Disney park, give Disney Dreamlight Valley a try! Now, if you need me, I’ll be trying to earn enough coins to build a new character’s house in my valley — stay tuned to AllEars!
