NEWS: Universal DELAYS Refurb of Popular Harry Potter Ride

If you’re heading to Universal Orlando Resort soon, there are a few upcoming closures you need to know about.

It’s an understatement to say that Universal is changing over the next year. With Universal Epic Universe set to open on May 22nd, 2025, Universal Orlando is primed to be the talk of the theme park industry. However, before we get to that point, the resort is doing some minor maintenance on several attractions, including one that had its closure dates completely changed.

While keeping up with all the recent Universal Orlando changes and announcements, we saw that the Resort now has the Hogwarts Express closed for refurbishment from January 28th to February 1st, 2025. 

Previously, it was announced the attraction that takes guests between Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida would be closed between November 4th and November 7th, 2024, so if you want to ride this stellar attraction before the new year without having to worry about a refurbishment closure, you’re in luck.

The Hogwarts Express isn’t the only Universal attraction experiencing a refurbishment timeline change. MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack had its scheduled refurbishment extended by five days, resulting in a closure from November 4th to December 15th, 2024.

These two attractions join a longer list of attractions with scheduled closures. The announced theme park attraction closures are as follows:

• The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man — October 21st, 2024 through November 6th, 2024
• MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack — November 4th, 2024 through December 15th, 2024
• Fast & Furious Supercharged — August 19th, 2024 through November 3rd, 2024
• Dudley Do-Right Ripsaw Falls — November 7th, 2024 through December 19th, 2024
• Hogwarts Express — January 28th, 2025 through February 1st, 2025
• Me-Ship, The Olive — October 21st, 2024 through December 4th, 2024
• Jurassic Park River Adventure — January 6th, 2025 through January 23rd, 2025
• Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges — January 24th, 2025 through March 15th, 2025
• The Nighttime Lights At Hogwarts Castle
• Pteranodon Flyers

The closures aren’t just limited to the theme parks. Universal’s Volcano Bay water park will also feature closures on the following dates:

• Runamukka Reef — October 28th, 2024 through October 31st, 2024
• Raki of Taniwha Tubes — November 13th, 2024 through November 22nd, 2024
• Tonga of Taniwha Tubes — November 13th, 2024 through November 22nd, 2024
• Honu of the Honu ika Moana  — December 2nd, 2024 through December 12th, 2024
• ika Moana of the Honu ika Moana — December 2nd, 2024 through December 12th, 2024
