Why This Formerly Iconic Disney World Lounge Is Suddenly Getting Bad Reviews

Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was a coveted reservation when the new land inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened in August 2019.

However, this Star Wars-themed lounge has been receiving some pretty bad reviews. Is this lounge still worth a stop on your Disney World vacation?

At Oga’s Cantina, guests are transported into a Star Wars-themed bar that is owned by Oga Garra, boss of the Black Spire Outpost underworld. The bar serves up a variety of unique and “otherworldly” drinks and a small selection of quick bites.

The atmosphere inside Oga’s Cantina truly makes you feel like you are in a different world, but recently this Star Wars-themed bar has been getting less than stellar reviews.

How did this iconic Disney World lounge end up receiving numerous bad reviews from our readers with an average rating of 6.7/10? Well, let’s dive into the good, the bad, and the ugly of Oga’s Cantina.

While the atmosphere inside Oga’s Cantina is perfect for the Star Wars fan, there are also elements to it that can lead to a bad experience. First of all, Oga’s Cantina is still incredibly popular. Your best bet will to make an Advance Dining Reservation for the lounge, but you can also attempt to join the walk-up list at the entrance.

However, even with a reservation, your time at Oga’s Cantina may take longer than you would like. One of our readers wrote that they had “a 6:15PM reservation, checked in 20 minutes early, and were seated FORTY-FIVE minutes later when told that {they would] have a table in less than 20.” Due to the popularity of the lounge, it is possible that you will end up waiting longer for a table than expected.

Once you get inside, you might be surprised to learn that there are quite a few standing-only tables, and if you do get seated at a sit-down table you will be sharing that table with others if you don’t have ten people in your group. While some people may love the idea of getting to meet some fellow travelers, it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea to share their experience with strangers.

Many of our readers dislike that you either end up having to stand at the bar which is not as comfortable as being able to sit and enjoy your drinks. Or, if you do get to sit down, you will likely find yourself meeting some new acquaintances.

We also want to warn you that this lounge is LOUD. While some may appreciate the overall atmosphere, it does get very loud inside. One of our readers wrote, “if you really enjoy standing exactly where they tell you,” and it being “way to loud to talk to your party at all, this is the bar for you!”

As well, we also read multiple reviews that stated that the overall cost of this lounge is not worth it. Especially when you sometimes can’t sit or are seated with strangers in a loud atmosphere. The lounge also has a time limit of 45 minutes due to its popularity. Another reader wrote, “The drinks were very good, and the [service] was good (but not excellent).” They got two drinks and a snack and “those 3 things cost $60 with tip! TO NOT SIT!! Even for the most enthusiastic Star Wars fan I think this is a one and done.”

Now it may seem like we are bashing pretty hard on Oga’s Cantina. We have definitely seen an increase in negative reviews for this lounge over the years, but that doesn’t mean you should cross a trip to this lounge off your list yet.

While Oga’s Cantina may not suit everyone, the lounge definitely also has its positives. Many of our readers think this is a must-do if you are a Star Wars fan. The interior and atmosphere are immersive and make you feel like you are in a bar in the world of Star Wars.

The lounge offers some unique drinks and an impressive atmosphere. One of our readers also suggested reserving a spot a night “because it enhances the bar-life experience, and you get to leave to an empty Hollywood Studios!”

Some reviewers also thought that sharing a table with others, “added to the fun and theme of Oga’s.” You never know who you might meet, and your tablemates may make your experience even better!

Happabore Sampler

Overall, while the lounge can be crowded and loud, it is great for Star Wars fans and offers up a variety of unique drinks. Many of our readers agreed that this may be a one and done, but it offers up an immersive adventure into the world of Star Wars.

Oga’s Obsession

While there have been quite a few bad reviews, don’t let them scare you away from giving Oga’s Cantina a try if you have been wanting to experience it. We just recommend going in with the right expectations and we think you can have a great time at this themed lounge.

  1. We went to Oga’s on the 27th of September. We had a later reservation,so that we could come out to a deserted Galaxy’s Edge, that was made in advance. We enter and were lucky to get a booth. We waited 10 minutes for the waitress which upset us as you are timed. She comes over and had a crappy attitude. Said we can’t walk around and look until we’re done and paid. Wanted a glass of water for 10 year old and was attitude about that. Said it’d take longer to bring over than drinks, like really? 6 alcoholic drinks and an Oga’s Obsession plus automatic tip was $184. One person did order drink with take home mug. The place was pretty basic, not mind blowing like we were led to believe as fans. Should have spent our time riding.

  2. I liked the atmosphere, I had a non alcoholic drink which was good, but expensive. I really wish they served a better selection of snacks.
