“I Honestly Don’t Know Why Everyone Hates This” — It’s Time to Give This Controversial Magic Kingdom Restaurant a Second Chance

With so many restaurants around Disney World, it can be tough to choose just one.

Tony’s Town Square

Each park has tons of options, from counter service to table service. Magic Kingdom alone has 39 dining options (counting snack stands, counter service, and table service restaurants). But there’s one table service restaurant in Magic Kingdom that has gotten a bad rap for quite a while now, and we bet many of you know exactly where we’re talking about — Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. However, it might be time we give this Italian spot a second (or third) chance.

For a long time, Tony’s Town Square Restaurant has had a bad reputation for being a sub-par dining experience. The food here has been okay, but nothing special. Many people might have even thought your local Olive Garden was better than this Magic Kingdom restaurant, so it was often overlooked since you could get more unique options in the park.

The restaurant is themed for Disney’s Lady and the Tramp film, even including a fountain featuring a Lady and Tramp statues. It’s a pretty restaurant, but that wasn’t enough for many visitors to return.

However, we’ve received more recent reviews on AllEars.net that might be evidence that it’s time to give Tony’s a second chance. The restaurant recently underwent a menu revamping, and people are talking about how good these changes are!

The only con this reviewer shared was that the restaurant was crowded, which was a common downside for reviewers.

Lots of people raved about the appetizers, especially Tony’s Garlic Bread For The Table. This starter is just what it sounds like: Toasted Ciabatta with Roasted Garlic-Butter and Parmesan Fonduta. People have LOVED this garlic bread! It’s yummy garlic flavor has made it a favorite here.

People also mentioned that the Fried Mozzarella was a second favorite option at Tony’s! These are giant mozzarella sticks served with spicy, creamy tomato sauce, which according to another review “the sauce did kick it up a notch. ”

Several people complimented the large portion sizes at Tony’s, but other than the appetizers, the biggest pro people had was the service. One reviewer shared, “The server was attentive and friendly, honestly making this a nice well-rounded dining experience.” Another shared, “Service was outstanding….great experience!!!” If you’re looking for a dining experience with good food and great service, it sounds like Tony’s is the place to go!

After years of poor reviews, it might be time for Tony’s to have a second chance. If you enjoy Italian fare and are looking for a nice sit-down option in Magic Kingdom for a bit of air conditioning and tasty food (especially apps), you might want to consider Tony’s Town Square Restaurant! Advance dining reservations are highly recommended for Tony’s, which you can book 60 days ahead of your trip on the My Disney Experience app or the Disney World website.

  1. I concur….Tony’s has charming decor perfectly suited to Main Street with friendly servers. And the garlic bread appetizer is to die for! That appetizer, along with a Caesar salad or salmon, makes for a wonderful dining experience.
