NEWS: Disney Reveals 'Inside Out 2' Most Successful Animated Movie EVER

We’ve got some Disney news that may cause you to get up all in your feels.

It’s no secret that we’re big Inside Out 2 fans, and we love meeting Joy in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (where she’s currently meeting guests). We were first in line to grab tickets for the new movie, and we’ve been excited to see it break box office records since its release. Well, Inside Out 2 recently passed an even bigger milestone to become the most successful animated movie of all time.

The Walt Disney Company is jumping for joy because Inside Out 2 is now the highest-grossing animated movie of all time globally. The Pixar film, which is a sequel to the hit Inside Out, has made $1.46 billion worldwide, meaning it’s passed Frozen II as the most successful animated movie of all time.

“Inside Out 2 is a quintessentially Pixar film, and it’s been amazing to see how it has connected so deeply with people all over the world,” Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman, Disney Entertainment, said. “We knew it was really special, but no one could have predicted it would reach these record-breaking heights. We’re grateful to all the fans who have made this the biggest animated film ever.”

Inside Out 2 returns to follow the story of Riley, who is now a teenager with new emotions to deal with inside her head, including anxiety.

It shouldn’t come as a big surprise that seven out of 10 of the top-grossing animated movies of all time were produced by Pixar or Walt Disney Animation Studios. But Inside Out 2 is also the 13th highest-grossing film of all time globally now that it’s crossed $600 million at the domestic box office.

Needless to say, Inside Out 2 has been the highest grossing movie of 2024 so far. That could change soon, though with the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the most highly anticipated Marvel movies in recent years. It looks like Disney is dominating the box office this summer.

Other Disney movies set to release this year include Moana 2, which releases on November 27th, and Mufasa: The Lion King, which releases on December 20th.
