Disney is making MAJOR CHANGES to its “skip the line” Genie+ service!
The service is getting a new name — Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes are also getting a new name — Lightning Lane Single Pass. The even bigger news, though, is that in Disney World, Lightning Lane Multi Pass is going to allow you to select some rides in advance of your trip! We’ve got some major details about these advance selections — so read on!
Disney Genie+ is a paid service you buy through the My Disney Experience App that allows you to book windows to ride attractions at Disney World with little to no wait. Much of the system will work the same when the name change takes effect on July 24th in Disney World and Disneyland. BUT, in Disney World you will be able to book up to 3 Lightning Lanes in advance!
How far in advance? Well, if you’re staying in a Disney World Resort (or other select hotels), you will be able to book up to 7 days in advance of your first park day — and at that time you’ll be able to book for the length of your trip. If you aren’t staying at a Disney World hotel, you’ll be able to book up to 3 days in advance of your visit.
Disney is putting “tiers” in place for the rides — meaning you won’t be able to book all of the most popular rides in a park in advance. You’ll be able to select one ride from the top (most popular) tier, and two rides (or all three) from the bottom tier. This is true of Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. However, at Animal Kingdom, all the rides are in the same tier, and you can choose any three.

You can choose all three of your Lightning Lane Selections from these attractions:

- Feathered Friends in Flight!
- Festival of the Lion King
- Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!
- Itʼs Tough to Be a Bug!
- Kali River Rapids
- Kilimanjaro Safaris
- Naʻvi River Journey
A Lightning Lane Single Pass can be purchased for the following attraction:
- Avatar Flight of Passage
If you have park hopper tickets, you will be able to spread your Lightning Lane selections out to multiple parks. In addition, Disney says after you have used one of your Lightning Lane selections, you will be able to select an additional LightningLane from any tier.
