What’s Going On With This Unexpected 2-Month (!!!) Ride Closure at Universal Orlando?

So, um, did we miss an asteroid strike or something? There’s a ride located in the Jurassic Park section of Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure park that has been unexpectedly closed for a suspiciously long period of time. Should we be worried?

Universal hasn’t shared any official announcements about the fate of this attraction, so we can’t rule anything out quite yet. But, if you were planning a trip to Universal Orlando, you might want to know about this extended closure.

OK, so there’s this cute little ride over in Jurassic Park called Pteranodon Flyers. (Side note — can we talk about how “Pteranodon” is such a WEIRD word?!) This ride is mainly meant for kids.

In fact, Universal states that anyone taller than 56” can not ride it unless you are accompanying a child between 36–56”. It’s a short, simple little ride above the land. That is, when it’s open, anyway.

Pteranodon Flyers unexpectedly closed back in April, and the ride is still unavailable, according to the Universal Orlando app.

Universal has not shared any information about the reason for this closure, and we’re still waiting for a reopening date. But for now, the closure has officially reached the two-month mark. If you were hoping to ride this with your little one, you might be out of luck.

The good news is that Seuss Landing has some kid-friendly rides, too! We recommend visiting this area of the park instead.
