Disney just dropped a ton of news on us! Not only did they come out victorious in the battle for seats on the company’s board, but we also got a new trailer for Inside Out 2 and a new look at the upcoming Moana sequel.

It all comes on the heels of Disney’s recent agreement with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, and CEO Bob Iger shared his thoughts on the settlement.
During the Walt Disney Company Annual Shareholders Meeting on April 3rd, 2024, CEO Bob Iger shared his thoughts on the settlement agreement the company reached with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

To recap, the DeSantis-controlled Central Florida Tourism Oversight District and Disney entered into a settlement agreement on March 27th, which drops the state-level lawsuits brought by both the CFTOD and Disney, also outlines various stipulations that the two parties must agree to.

At the April 3rd meeting, Iger was asked why Disney hasn’t “kept up” with Universal’s Epic Universe opening in 2025. Iger said that couldn’t be further from the truth, and shared, “…the agreement with Central Florida Tourism Oversight District reached last week was a win-win in terms of our ability to pursue future building opportunities.”
He continued, “There’s much more coming to our parks around the world, including Florida.”

Oddly enough, DeSantis seems to be in agreement about this. During a press conference on March 28th, DeSantis shared that he would like to see more development in the area and with Epic Universe on the way, “Disney is probably going to have to answer to that.”

It’s unclear whether or not the two groups will be able to work together to create the new Comprehensive Plan and other projects. But, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates.
