The One HUGE Announcement Missing From Disney’s News Drop

We tuned in to the 2024 Walt Disney Company Annual Shareholder Meeting to hear all the big news CEO Bob Iger had to share.

Iger shared some big news such as sneak peeks at Inside Out 2 and Moana 2. He also shared a look at concept art for a new Pandora project that could be coming to Disneyland Resort! We knew we could hear some exciting announcements at the meeting, but we noticed one particular topic (and a couple of others) completely missing.

We had high hopes that during the Annual Shareholder meeting, we would get some big Tiana news. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is being constructed on both coasts in Disney World and Disneyland. On the East Coast, the ride is set to open this summer, and on the West Coast, we can expect to ride it “later” in 2024.

We’re getting close to summer, and we’ve been getting little details and sneak peeks here and there about the ride in Magic Kingdom. However, we still do not have a specific opening date. We thought that this shareholder meeting might be the perfect time for Disney to drop the news on us.

Unfortunately, we got through the entire news portion of the meeting without so much as a whisper about the ride, either of them in either park. We were very surprised to not get anything from Iger.

But news about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure wasn’t the only piece of information that was missing. We were ready to hear more about other Magic Kingdom attractions. For example, we still haven’t heard any recent news about the expansion that may or may not be coming to Magic Kingdom. Last we had heard, Disney was considering land past Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but Iger did not comment on this during the meeting.

Disney also didn’t share an opening date for the re-vamped Country Bear Jamboree show in Magic Kingdom. This show is also supposed to be reopening this summer, but we haven’t heard any word on it since it closed.

Speaking of park expansions, Iger also did not comment on the Dinoland U.S.A. re-theming in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney has shared in the past that they are considering themes revolving around the Tropical Americas, but that has yet to be confirmed as what they are officially doing. There was no discussion on the topic as Iger discussed other expansions in International parks and Disneyland.

The last topic that we didn’t hear anything about was Bob Iger’s succession. Who may be taking over as CEO when Iger officially leaves has been a topic many have been considering. A Disney board member had recently mentioned that Iger’s succession is the company’s “number one priority.” So we had thought that we could hear more news on the subject, but alas we did not.

We are excited to have learned everything that we did! It’s exciting that a new Pandora attraction could be coming to Disneyland, and we’re certainly eager to see the new movies headed to theaters this year. However, we had hopes that these topics would be discussed. Iger shared that more announcements will come as they have more to show. So we will be keeping our eyes peeled for anything new!
