It’s been months since Disney closed the Galactic Starcruiser — also known as Disney’s Star Wars Hotel.
This experience was an incredible 2-day, 2-night experience that fully immersed guests into the Star Wars universe. Guests could choose to be as immersed into the story as they’d like, so everyone’s experience was different! However, it closed only after a year of operation, and now we’re left wondering what Disney will do with the building. We have a suggestion though Disney — Star Wars Laser Tag.
Now WAIT and hear us out — the Galactic Starcruiser is large, but it’s much smaller than other hotels around Disney World. This means that it could make a great, interesting location for Laser Tag.
But not just ANY type of Laser Tag — immersive, Star Wars Laser Tag. We suggest that the whole ship is fair game, but as the game goes on, certain sections go “off limits” so all players eventually are all in one location to battle it out until there’s one winner. The first step? Players are separated into two teams SECRETLY, half for the First Order and half for the Resistance, but no one knows who’s on which team!
And to make sure everyone is playing fairly, there are Star Wars Cast Members in character around the ship to help the game move along, and maybe even form alliances, become a mentor, or misguide players around the ship. Maybe you can even earn extra points for side quests — but make sure you’re not getting caught by other players!
This way, just like the original experience, you can choose to be as immersed as you’d like while you play the game. If you’d like to interact with Cast Members, you can! If you just want to play normal laser tag, that’s okay too!
But with all these details, this isn’t just a normal length game of laser tag — this is a LONG game of laser tag. To have time to do all the quests, we think this game could take HOURS. Maybe 2-3 hours of laser tag, with around 50 players per game, this means that there could be 2-3 games per day. Or, maybe you only do one GIANT game per day, with 150 players and it lasts 8 hours! We think having the best of both worlds would be best — some days that are one long game, and others that are shorter games, so everyone’s happy.
So Disney, we’re just waiting for your call! We think this would be a great way to use the space in a more cost effective way, but still keep the immersion factor that everyone loved about the Starcruiser. What do you think? Would you play laser tag in the Galactic Starcruiser? Tell us in the comments!
No interest in Laser Tag. I would be very interested in touring all areas of that hotel. I want to see it in person. Disney could use it as a restaurant (please no brightly colored blue food). A version of Buzz Lightyear laser point and shoot could be an attraction.on vehicles; not running through the ship.Or,Guests walk through firing at targets; scores tallied at the end. Star Wars characters could perform a show in there. Build a light saber and have a duel with a holographic opponent. Lights and sounds and a score at the finish. I just want to tour that place. Lots of poor people do who couldn’t afford $6 grand for two days. Disney, please let us in! Guests stand in line for Moana walk through. They would 100% consider Star Wars hotel walk through an attraction. Or, just make it a hotel with no active character involvement. An affordable hotel please. I for one can’t wait to lay down in one of those orange beds
