Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek Takes on a NEW Job

It’s been a while since we last checked in on Bob Chapek.

The last we knew of Bob Chapek, he was laying pretty low after reportedly being ousted from the CEO role with The Walt Disney Company. Things have seemed pretty quiet about Chapek since then though, until this latest announcement of his newly appointed status.

If you’ve been wondering where Bob Chapek has gone off to, we’ve got the scoop! According to a new press release, Chapek has found himself appointed to a new board of directors with Masimo.

Suppose that name isn’t super familiar to you. In that case, Masimo “is a global medical technology company that develops and produces a wide array of industry-leading monitoring technologies, including innovative measurements, sensors, patient monitors, and automation and connectivity solutions.” Additionally, Masimo Consumer Audio is the name behind 8 leading consumer audio brands that you may be more familiar with in your household like Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, and Polk Audio.

Massimo announced the news on January 16th, 2024 that Chapek would be joining their Board of Directors. Chapek was Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company between February 2020 to November 2022, before Bob Iger stepped back into that role when Chapek’s abrupt departure was announced. During his time with The Walt Disney Company, Chapek navigated unforeseen circumstances including the COVID-19 Pandemic, ambitious transformative projects at Disney World, Disneyland, and internationally, as well as exploring and repositioning streaming media of Disney films and shows to their Disney+ streaming platform and its partner companies at Hulu, ABC, and EPSN+.

Before stepping into the CEO role at The Walt Disney Company, Chapek served as Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products since its creation, and before that, he was Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. That wasn’t all the roles that Chapek took on within Disney. He was also head of Disney Consumer Products and named president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

Before joining Disney, Chapek made a name for himself while working in brand management at H.J. Heinz Company, and worked for a time in advertising at J. Walter Thompson. He’s also very accomplished, earning a degree in microbiology from Indiana University Bloomington, and went on to receive his MBA from Michigan State University.

When asked about joining Masimo, Chapek said, “I am thrilled to join the Masimo Board.” He also went on to say, “I look forward to helping advance the company’s growth by leveraging their core technologies in the consumer and consumer health spaces.”

Joe Kiani, the Chairman and CEO of Masimo, also praised Chapek upon his appointment to the Masimo board stating, “We are honored to have Bob join the Board. As we execute our hospital-to-home strategy, we expect to benefit greatly from Bob’s role on our Board.”
