The Experts Have Spoken: These Are the BEST New Restaurants in Disney World

Can you believe 2023 is coming to an end? Does anyone else feel like they blinked and the year was over?

Magic Kingdom

There was A LOT that happened in Disney World this year and thinking about it can make your head spin. TRON: Lightcycle/Run finally opened, we finished celebrating the 50th Anniversary, we saw Happily Ever After get brought back, and so much more! Not to mention we saw 4 new restaurants open, and these are the BEST ones we tried in 2023.

Summer House on the Lake

We are not saving the best for last. Although Summer House on the Lake just recently opened in early December, we can’t stop talking about it. We were able to try it on opening day and spoiler alert — we enjoyed it.

Summer House on the Lake

Not only is the atmosphere gorgeous with lake views and airy decor, but they also have a cookie bar! Yes, they have a whole section dedicated to cookies and desserts, and the best part is, that area is available for walk-ups. It has a separate entrance from the restaurant so if you have a sweet tooth, you can walk right into the cookie bar.

The Cookie Bar

As far as the restaurant goes, all the food we ate was DELICIOUS, and we thoroughly enjoyed each item. This is a smidge more expensive than your basic table service spots, and the portion sizes are not large. If you have a bigger appetite, you’ll probably need to order multiple items. We tried several of the signature and more unique dishes and were not disappointed in the tastes and flavors, though!

Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya

Over in EPCOT, Shiki-Sai, a new restaurant in the Japan pavilion opened this year. This brand-new sushi bar and grill has replaced Tokyo Dining. This is also the restaurant with the giant $300 sushi boat and yes, we did try it!

Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya menu

What we loved about this restaurant is the large variety of menu options and the theming. We feel like there is something for everyone on this menu and we thought the food was delicious.

Sushi Boat

The theming of this restaurant is great, too. It changes with the seasons and celebrates each season in the traditional Japanese culture. The service here was great. They are very knowledgeable and make the meal a whole experience.

Rosa Mexicano

Rosa Mexicano is a new. Mexican-style restaurant located at the Swan and Dolphin. They serve authentic Mexican cuisine that’s made from scratch, all in an upscale dining environment.

Rosa Mexicano

We loved the food here. The queso and the enchiladas were especially delicious! If you are staying over near the Swan and Dolphin, it’s worth a visit.

Two more honorable mentions, EET by Maneet Chauhan and Roundup Rodeo. EET recently opened over in Disney Springs and you can order many Indian-inspired meals here. It is a fresh, new space that we will be coming back to (especially for the best poutine we’ve possibly ever eaten in Disney World). We also noticed that the staff here was super friendly!

Roundup Rodeo opened in Hollywood Studios in 2023. This Toy Story-themed restaurant serves smoked meats, home-cooked sides, and more. We feel like this is a family-fun restaurant and a must-do for Toy Story fans.
