Universal has been very busy working on their latest projects recently.

Not only are we expecting an upcoming retheming to DreamWorks kid zone in Universal Studios in Orlando and new patents to make rides more comfortable for riders, but we’ve also just officially learned the name of the newest Universal park for kids in Texas. However, with that announcement came some interesting updates that you may have missed unless you were looking closely.

While we were all up in arms gushing over the reveal of Universal Kids Resort’s official name announcement, we also got an updated look at what we can expect out of the land. If you’re not familiar with this new park that Universal Parks and Resorts is building, it’s a completely new theme park that will be marketed and themed to families with young kids. This is a stark difference and a common critique of the existing parks in Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood, where the parks have been noted for their bigger thrill rides.

While there’s still LOTS to be unveiled about this new park as construction continues, it seems that it has changed already in quite a few ways. At first glance, the images that were shared with the name announcement from Universal on social media look pretty similar to what was revealed initially about the land’s outline. Just so we don’t get too confused, first, let’s take a look at the earliest concept art that was released for Universal Kids Resort.

And here’s the updated version that was most recently shared.

Seeing a few differences yet? Yeah, us too. The biggest change we noticed had to do with the center of the park. It seems that Universal may have expanded the idea of more waterplay area to the center rather than opting to push it out to the sides where we saw it sectioned in a land from the earlier artwork.

Backing up to the front just a bit, the entrance caught our attention, too! The earlier imagery showed a ginormous sign in the likeness of the DreamWorks film logo. However, it was noticeably missing in the updated look. Could Universal have favored toning it down a bit?

That theory actually could be carried throughout the inside of the park too. In earlier concepts, we were shown artwork in “lands” that kept us guessing if these coordinated to specific DreamWorks films like Trolls with bright, vibrant colors on giant flower petals.

But, on the updated look of the same (potential) area in the park, not only has it been moved to the opposite side from its original location, but the theming seems to have been tapered back a bit from its former vibrant self so that leaves us to wonder if the land area will still be the same with the original planned inclusions… or has that changed?

Whatever the case may be, it’s interesting to see how things shift and change as the construction progresses and the vision that Universal has for this park evolves. Make sure you’re following us at AllEars.net for the latest in changes, news, and updates about all the Universal theme parks soon!
