One BIG Announcement Is Mysteriously Missing From Disney’s News Drop

Disney loves keeping us on our toes. Seriously, though.

Disney World

With all of the changes that have happened at both Disney World and Disneyland with park hopping, annual passes, Genie+ changes, and more, it can be a lot to keep up with. Once our heads weren’t in that much of a tizzy, we noticed that something was completely missing from the latest Disney news!

Let’s get right into what completely missing (news about Genie+ changes) and then we’ll do a quick recap of the news we heard about Disney World and Disneyland!

Any news about Genie+?

We’re not sure why, but Disney chose to completely ignore Genie+ in all of this recent news.

Genie+

As I’m sure you know, since Genie+ was introduced, it has been a controversial topic among Disney fans, not only for the price but for the confusing system. Now, earlier this year, we had word from Disney that they were aiming to simplify the Disney Genie+ experience.

Disney said, “We have heard from guests that they would like ways to plan with Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane selections before the day of their park visit, and we want you to know we are working on ways guests may do this for visits in 2024.”

In the past, you could book FastPasses before you arrived at Disney World so you already had some plan for what you could skip the line for each day of the trip. With Genie+ currently, you have to grab Lightning Lane reservations on the day you are in the parks. However, it seems like this could all change in 2024!

Disney continued saying “Our goal is to give you the opportunity to spend less time planning in the park and more time enjoying your visit with friends and family.”

But, as we said, there’s been complete radio silence from Disney on this. We still have no idea how or when they’ll change Genie+.

Let’s go over the news they did decide to share.

Disney World

Park hopping restrictions have been in place at Disney World since the pandemic, but that’s all changing in 2024!

Cinderella Castle

Disney has announced that as of January 9th, 2024all-day park hopping is finally coming back! Anyone with a park ticket with Park Hopper or an Annual Pass can visit another theme park at any time of day during park hours.

EPCOT

This is very exciting for many guests, as there are a lot of people who aren’t fans of the 2PM park hopping rule. The news comes after Disney previously announced that park pass reservations would be going away for most guests in 2024.

Animal Kingdom

Disney shared, “On days when theme park reservations are required for Annual Passholders and certain non-dated tickets, Passholders and guests will be able to take advantage of the updates to Park Hopper access after visiting their first park.”

Disneyland

Prices for Magic Key Passes have increased in Disneyland! Here’s a look at the new pricing:

  • Imagine Key: $499 (was $449)

  • Believe Key: $1249 (was $1099)

Keep in mind that sales of new Magic Key passes are currently paused, but are still available for renewal. We’ll let you know if that changes!
