If you’re planning to fly in or out of Orlando this summer, you need to be prepared.
New nonstop flights have been announced for the Orlando Airport, we’ve shared a peek at what happens when a true nightmare impacts part of the airport’s systems, and we even took a look at whether the Orlando Airport is one of the CHEAPEST in the nation. But now we’ve got another thing you’ll want to be aware of — storms and how they can impact your trip!
Eric Burris (meteorologist at WESH 2 News) shared that a ground stop has been issued for the Orlando Airport due to storms in the area. When he posted his update, there were a number of flights that had already been delayed and canceled.
New ground stop issued for @MCO due to these storms around. More flights delayed than on time, and I’m sure that number will continue to rise… pic.twitter.com/0akMEFYiVU

FlightAware shared that around 254 flights had been delayed at Orlando International Airport (when sorted by origin airport), while only 17 had been canceled. When looking at MCO by destination airport, around 234 flights had been delayed.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a ground stop issued for the Orlando Airport and likely won’t be the last during this summer season, when storms can impact Florida quite often.
Be sure to download your airline’s app in advance and turn on notifications so you can get updates there about anything that might impact your flight.
