NEWS: Carrie Fisher is Being Awarded a Major Hollywood Honor

There are some celebrities that just go down in history as icons.

Whether they appeared in a popular movie, recorded a hit song, or stunned theaters with their performances onstage, many of those iconic celebrities were brought to us by Disney and the brands the company represents. One of the prominent examples we can think of is the cast of the Star Wars films…and now one of those stars is getting a well-deserved honor!

According to Variety, Carrie Fisher is set to be posthumously awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony will take place on May 4th, 2023.

Carrie Fisher was on the list of 2022 honorees, and now we’re glad to find out that the ceremony has been scheduled for a very fitting holiday — Star Wars Day. According to EW, her co-star Mark Hamill was awarded a star on the Walk in 2018, but the rule is that there is a five-year wait for a star to be awarded posthumously. Since Fisher passed away in 2016, she was not eligible at the time.
