Disney animated classics have been getting the live-action treatment lately.
The Little Mermaid remake is about to premiere, and we just saw a new trailer for the new Peter Pan & Wendy movie coming soon, too. Another iconic film is being turned into a live-action movie, and we just got a huge update about it!
Quite a few Disney movies are being turned into live-action remakes — including The Aristocats! We knew a few details about the film, like who would be writing the script and that it was in early development. Now, we know who will be directing the film.
According to Deadline, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson has signed on to direct this reimagined tale for Walt Disney Studios. He will also be executive producing and overseeing music for the film — which is not surprising considering Thompson is a founding member of The Roots and has won six Grammy awards.
Will Gluck and Keith Bunin have penned the script, and Tarik Trotter, Shawn Gee, and Zarah Zohlman will be executive producing via Two One Five Entertainment.
The remake will follow the original film’s storyline about a family of cats living in Paris who finds themselves in a bit of trouble, and we can’t wait to learn more details.
