Why You’ll Be Paying MORE to Travel This Summer

Traveling over the past few months has certainly been…interesting.

Southwest Plane

Over the winter holidays, Southwest had a meltdown that left thousands of people stranded, and at the end of last month, another round of airline cancelations took place. Not only do airlines seem unpredictable to many right now, but prices are HIGH, and as it turns out, they’re only going to get higher.

According to Hopper, while airline prices this spring and summer are expected to stay below last year’s prices, they’re still set to rise to average around $350 per ticket during the warmer months.

These higher prices are due to many things including inflation, high demand, and lower airline capacity. The month of May is expected to be the most expensive with domestic flight prices expected to be around $348 for a roundtrip. It’s expected for prices to then drop as the summer continues.

Hopper created a handy dandy chart that shows you what a good deal will be each month and the percentage of change from previous years.

However, airlines are still running many sales that can get you cheaper flights, so if you are planning to travel during the higher-priced times, see if you can score a deal. As always, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest travel news and updates.
