2 BIG Changes Could Be Coming to the Orlando Airport

Orlando International Airport (MCO) sees over 50 million passengers annually and the airport is looking for ways to upgrade its offerings for travelers.

Along with the upcoming Brightline train station that will connect the airport with major cities in Florida, there are two additional potential changes that MCO is looking forward to bringing travelers!

In September of 2022 a new terminal was completed and opened. Terminal C, which will be home to the new train station, added 15 new gates for both domestic and international travel. While this allows for more flights to arrive and depart, this also means more walking for travelers.

At the moment there are no moving walkways in Terminal C. This could add as much as half a mile of walking for passengers (which is the last thing you want to do after a long Disney trip!).

Luckily, this oversight was brought up at a recent board meeting of Orlando International Airport leaders, according to the Orlando Business Journal. Hopefully some moving walkways will be installed soon, that way travelers can save up to 15 minutes walking from one end of the terminal to the other.

In addition to the walkways, the airport is considering building a new hotel! This hotel would be located in a vacant field nearby the Terminal C parking garage. Currently, MCO has put in a bid to work with consultants who will perform an analysis to determine figures such as how many rooms, type and duration of stay, and other factors that potential visitors are looking for.

Those who need a hotel close to the airport can stay at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport hotel. As for the potential second hotel, the level and brand of hotel are yet to be determined.
