NEWS: Movie About Disney’s Secret Society of Explorers and Adventurers in the Works!

There is a very SECRET society within Disney, but it’s about to become a lot more publically known!

No, we’re not talking about Club 33! We’re talking about the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (“SEA”). This is a super secret group that many Disney fans don’t even know about, but it can be linked to rides and attractions throughout Disney parks and resorts around the WORLD. And one day it could come to…your movie theater?!

According to Deadline, a Society of Explorers and Adventurers movie is in the works at Disney! The movie will reportedly be based on the secret fictional organization.

The movie is set to be written by Qui Nguyen, the filmmaker behind Disney’s next animated film — Strange World. And it gets even better because Ryan Reynold’s Maximum Effort organization is set to produce the film.

For those who aren’t familiar with the SEA, it’s a secret, fictional organization you’ll find referenced in a variety of Disney attractions. It is made up of researchers, scientists, explorers, and adventurers, and the group as a whole is dedicated to the exploration of the world.

Some members include Dr. Albert Falls, who you might recognize from The Jungle Cruise. There’s also Lord Henry Mystic from Mystic Manor (Hong Kong Disneyland’s version of the Haunted Mansion). And several other names you might recognize are also members of this secret group!

According to Deadline, the SEA movie will be a live-action theatrical feature and is being eyed as the potential launch of a franchise. It’s being “billed as an adventure tying together the lore behind several of Disney’s most famous theme park attractions, with a modern twist.”

But this won’t exactly be the same as the existing SEA. The new take on the SEA will actually add a new “supernatural element” to the story and will follow new characters that weren’t included in the original lore.

Note that this movie is totally different than the SEA series that was announced previously. That SEA series is supposed to be set in the Magic Kingdom Universe, where “the themed lands and characters of the Disney Parks and classic films exist in another reality.”

Not much else has been shared about this new movie but we can’t wait to see what it ultimately becomes.
