Visiting Disney World is not cheap and we’ve wondered at what point Disney World is just too expensive. From price increases on food to additional expenses like Genie+, your wallet might be a lot lighter by the time you end your visit.
Not long ago, Tripadvisor released their list of top ten theme parks in the United States, and (surprise!) Disney World was NOT number one. Now Disney World has lost out on that number one spot again — only this time, it’s for the most expensive theme park in the world!
According to Click Orlando, The Family Vacation Guide has ranked the top 10 most expensive theme parks in the world, out of 36 of the biggest amusement parks across the globe. Four of these theme parks are located in Florida, but Disney World did NOT get the number one spot.
10. Cedar Point
Coming in at number 10 is Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. 2022 ticket prices currently begin at $82.16 per person.
Cedar Point is known for its thrill rides, with 89 rides to choose from in the park!
9. Kings Island
Kings Island, located in Mason, Ohio, comes in as the 9th most expensive theme park in the world. The 2022 ticket prices begin at $82.54 per person.
Kings Island is home to 65 rides, and its location lands the theme park about 24 miles northeast of Cincinnati.
8. IMG Worlds of Adventure
IMG Worlds of Adventure is the 8th most expensive theme park in the world, found in the United Arab Emirates in Dubai. 2022 tickets will set you back $82.16 per person.
This theme park is located in a temperature-controlled indoor space covering 1.5 million square feet.
7. Six Flags Magic Mountain
Six Flags Magic Mountain can be found in Valencia, California, just northwest of Los Angeles. 2022 ticket prices begin at $95.65 per person, ranking the park at number 7.
Magic Mountain holds the world record for the most roller coasters in a theme park, with 20 total coasters as of July 16th, 2022!
6. SeaWorld San Diego
SeaWorld San Diego is the 6th most expensive theme park in the world, with 2022 ticket prices beginning at $95.70 per person.
At SeaWorld San Diego, you can find 16 rides in addition to an aquarium.
5. Knott’s Berry Farm
We’re down to number 5 with Knott’s Berry Farm, located in Buena Park, California (not far from Disneyland). 2022 ticket prices begin at $95.76 per person.
This park features 40 rides with a variety of options for thrill seekers, young kids, and fans of water attractions.
4. Universal Studios Orlando
That’s right, Universal Studios Orlando came in at number 4 for the most expensive theme parks in the world! The study lists the 2022 pricing at $105.36 per person, but ticket prices have since increased to $109 per person.
This actually leads to a three-way tie, so find out what other two parks come in at the same price!
3. Universal Islands of Adventure
Universal Islands of Adventure ticket prices were 2 cents more than its counterpart park at $105.38 during the study, but ticket prices have since been raised to $109 per person.
As of now, both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure have the same ticket prices, as does another big Orlando theme park.
2. Disney World
And the final tie in the $109 ticket prices is none other than Disney World! Tickets were the same $109 price during the time the study was conducted, so we’re keeping it at the number two spot for now.
At many of these theme parks (including Disney World), these ticket prices are just the BASE price, with prices varying depending on the date and time of year.
1. Busch Gardens
And finally, the number one most expensive theme park in the world is Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, Florida! 2022 ticket prices begin at $117.95 per person.
In addition to all the rides, guests can also catch over 200 species of animals in this African-themed park.
