The Halloween season looks pretty similar at Disney World and Disneyland Resort…with the exception of one painful difference. Well, painful for Disney World guests, that is.

Yes, both resorts usually get seasonal treats, pumpkin decorations, and Halloween parties — Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom and Oogie Boogie Bash over in Disney California Adventure. But Disneyland boasts one major difference in the form of a ride overlay, filled with creepy crawlies, the Pumpkin King, Oogie Boogie, and…a gingerbread house?!
That’s right, Haunted Mansion Holiday is returning to Disneyland! The holiday overlay, courtesy of Jack Skellington and friends, transforms the attraction into a frightfully festive mix of two holidays — Halloween and Christmas!

As usual, guests can look forward to seeing a brand new gingerbread house in the ballroom scene! And if you haven’t seen these houses before, they’re creative and change each year. Oh — and don’t forget to take a big whiff, as the room fills with a sweet gingerbread scent!

The overlay returns September 2nd. And while no end date has been provided yet, this overlay usually lasts until the beginning of January!

And the return of Haunted Mansion Holiday also marks the likely return of Jack Skellington and Sally around the park! In the past, they’ve walked around the New Orleans Square area, and even had a photo op stationed near the Mansion.
