NEWS: Bruce Willis Announces He Will Be Stepping Away From Acting

Bruce Willis is a name synonymous with action movies.

To this day, many fans will argue that his biggest hit, Die Hard, is a Christmas movie (and the argument comes up every year, although the movie was released way back in 1988). Although he starred in a ton of movies throughout his illustrious career, he’s now stepping away from acting.

Bruce Willis is retiring from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder that happens after the parts of the brain responsible for language are damaged. His family announced this decision in a joint statement posted to Instagram.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.

“This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.

As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that.

In addition to Die Hard (which is now technically owned by Disney after the 20th Century Fox acquisition) and many other movies, Willis also starred in 2010’s The Kid for Disney. In that movie, he played a man suddenly faced with an eight-year-old version of himself — that film is now available on Disney+ for streaming.
