NEWS: COVID Concerns Delay 'The Book of Boba Fett' Red Carpet Premiere Event

We’ve been carefully following how the COVID-19 global health crisis has affected Disney Parks around the world, as well as Disney Cruise Line, and even Disney entertainment. Over the past few years, we’ve seen movies delayed, with some films even making their premieres on Disney+, as well as in theaters.

And although it seemed as if things were beginning to get back to normal, concerns about the Omicron variant of the disease have begun to affect more entertainment, including Disney+’s The Book of Boba Fett fan premiere event.

According to Variety, the Red Carpet Premiere Event for The Book of Boba Fett that was originally scheduled on January 4th at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood has been postponed due to COVID concerns. The fan event expected guests like Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy, and Ming-Na Wen, with more names to be announced.

In a statement, Disney wrote, “Out of an abundance of caution, we will be postponing the Boba Fett fan event. It will be relocated to the 8th of February in celebration of the finale.”

The Omicron variant is also predicted to have an impact on international tourism in Florida. Wastewater testing has also shown it as the predominant variant in Florida’s Orange County, where Disney World is located. According to Reuters, the CDC has stated that the Omicron Variant now accounts for 73 percent of all cases in the U.S.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The variant has also already resulted in a wave of canceled performances on Broadway, including performances of Hamilton, Aladdin, The Lion King, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and more.
