Tom Holland Will Play Fred Astaire in An Upcoming Sony Film

One of the hottest movies this year that everyone is gearing up to watch is Spider-Man: No Way Home.

If you’ve been following the MCU Spider-Man movies, then you know that Tom Holland plays the titular character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. And if you love his work in the role, then you should know about his next project!

Yesterday, Variety shared that Tom Holland has been cast in an upcoming Sony biopic about Fred Astaire. Holland will play the legendary actor, dancer, and singer himself!

Holland confirmed the casting recently at a promotional event for Spider-Man: No Way Home, noting that the script was complete, but he hadn’t yet seen a copy. Producer Amy Pascal has seen the script though, and she spoke with Holland about it in a FaceTime call.

For those wondering if Tom Holland will be able to “pull off” the role, you should know that he got his start on the stage in London, where he played the title role in Billy Elliot the Musical on the West End from 2008 to 2010. He’s also pretty famous on the internet for his mashup of “Singin’ in the Rain” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella” on Lip Sync Battle. It’s a testament to his dancing skills, for sure.
