Earlier this year, the four park icons were transformed into Beacons of Magic for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. While all four are absolutely gorgeous, one in particular stood out to perhaps everyone — Spaceship Earth.

Spaceship Earth’s “points of light” have allowed it to transform into a brilliant display of color and light on a nightly basis in EPCOT. Now that we’re in the full swing of the holiday season, it has taken on an entirely new festive look.
As we made our way out of the park this evening after visiting the first day of EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays, we were able to watch the nightly “performance,” now with a holiday twist!

The music that plays rotates between holiday music and the traditional EPCOT theme guests have heard for the past couple of months since the Beacons of Magic first debuted.

But, that’s not all. Recognize any of the designs featured in the show? Well, Riddley shared that some of them are actually references to “visual elements from the Lights of Winter holiday display.”

If you’re not familiar with it, that was a gorgeous display of lights that used to be on the World Showcase bridge. It was available for fans to enjoy from 1994 through 2008. So, fans of the Lights of Winter can enjoy a bit of this former EPCOT display while watching the new winter lights on Spaceship Earth.

Just when we thought we couldn’t love Spaceship Earth’s nighttime transformation more, it just blew us out of the water once again! We’ll be on the lookout for more of the latest news and updates from around Disney World this holiday season, so be sure to follow along!
