PHOTOS: FIRST LOOK at Some of the Treats Coming to Disney Cruise Line’s NEW Ship

The Disney Wish won’t set sail until 2022, but we’re already getting ready for all of the fabulous new things this ship will offer.

Disney Wish Exhibit

We’ve taken a look at how you could WIN a free cruise on this new ship, shared 5 reasons why we can’t wait for it to start cruising, and more! Now, we’ve got some tasty news to share with you — a first look at some of the special dishes you’ll be able to find on board.

During a recent media event, we got the chance to see and sample some dishes coming to the Disney Wish. Specifically, we got to try 2 appetizers from 1923, 2 entrees from Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, and 2 desserts from Worlds of Marvel.

The dishes we got to try were only sample portions though, and these dishes will likely look very different when plated as a full portion size. In fact, Disney has shared photos of the full-size dishes, and we’ve also shared those below.

Menu

Let’s take a look at some of the tasty treats you might be able to snag aboard the Disney Wish!

Appetizers — 1923

From 1923, we got to try a salad dish and a tuna dish. The salad dish was a Fennel, Bartlett Pear, and Tatsoi Salad, featuring Manchego Cheese, Walnuts, and a Sherry Dressing.

This is what our sample looked like…

Overall, the fennel had a nice crisp, bite to it, while the pear added some sweetness, and the cheese added some creaminess.

Next, we sampled the Porcini Spiced Ahi Tuna, which was served with Pickled Lotus Root, Oyster Mushroom, Black Sesame Brittle, and Wasabi and Yuzu Mayonnaise.

Again, here’s our sample…

The ahi tuna was served cold and tasted very fresh and not too fishy. The brittle added a nice texture difference, and there was a fun balance of citrus and spice from the mayo.

Entrees — Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

Next, it’s time to make our way to the Nordic-inspired menu of Arendelle.

The first item on our list was the Juniper Spiced Roasted Free Range Chicken with Scallion, Duck Fat Fried Potato, and Estragon Wild Mushrooms. We got a small portion size…

…but here’s the full portion.

Overall, the chicken was bland, but the duck fat fried potato was tasty and the wild mushrooms really gave off that Nordic feel.

Next, we grabbed the Seared Chilean Sea Bass with White Asparagus, Petite Leeks, Savoy Spinach, Romanesco, Peas, Kohlrabi, Rainbow Carrots, Seared Scallop, Pea Tendrils, and Mjod (mead) Vinaigrette. Again, our sample size was smaller…

…but here’s what a full portion looks like.

The sea bass was good and not too fishy. The vegetables again show that Nordic influence. We found them to be a bit bland, with most of the flavor coming from the sea bass.

Desserts — Worlds of Marvel

Finally, it was time to head to Worlds of Marvel for dessert. If you’re a fan of chocolate, you could check out the Flourless Chocolate Beetroot Cake, made with a Chocolate Cake, Pepper Beetroot, and Milk Chocolate Soil. Here’s what our cake looked like…

Overall, this was a good flourless chocolate cake that was quite tasty!

Next, it was time for the Sticky Fig Pudding, served with Salted Caramel Coconut, Balsamic Glaze, Vanilla Ice Cream.

Here’s the version we got…

…and the version Disney has shown as the full size for the restaurant.

The fig pudding was fine, and the balsamic glaze was interesting. The flavor of the balsamic glaze might not be a big hit with some kiddos, so that’s something to keep in mind.

And that’s a first look at some of the dishes you’ll be able to grab on the NEW Disney Wish cruise ship. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more news about Disney Cruise Line, so stay tuned for more updates!
