Earlier this week, Disney announced that it will be partnering with Amazon to create the new, interactive “Hey Disney!” feature for Amazon Alexa. Now, we know a lot more about the new offering and how it will be used in your Disney World hotel room!

This morning, Disney announced that the “Hey Disney!” voice assistant will debut in 2022 at Walt Disney World as a part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations.

We’ll see the technology rolled out in Disney Resort hotel guest rooms across Disney World as an optional, complementary feature during your stay.

“Hey Disney!” will bring Alexa services to your hotel room with options to check on the weather forecast, set timers, set alarms, and more. Plus, it will use the voices of popular Disney characters like Mickey, Olaf, C-3PO, and more!

The service will also come with a Disney Magical Companion, a character that will help guests to use the new service. Some of the interactions we might see include:

  • Hearing special greetings and jokes from authentic Disney character voices,
  • Asking trivia questions,
  • Exploring audio environments inspired by Disney films and destinations,
  • Learning helpful information about their vacation (such as bus departure times),
  • Ordering room amenities,
  • And more!

In addition, the “Hey Disney!” will be available for purchase for your Amazon Echo devices at home via the Amazon Alexa Skills store. Plus, Amazon has two new exclusive Mickey-inspired stands for the Echo Show 5.

  1. Please tell me these can be unplugged or have batteries removed. We did away with Alexa when turning it “off” but having it connected to a power source enabled it to continue functioning. I don’t need it, and I would not stay where this is not removable.
