Avengers Campus will open this Friday in Disney California Adventure!

The new land will immerse guests in the Marvel Universe and feature four new dining locations, a chance to sling webs with Spider-Man on a new ride, new characters, and more. And, though we’ve got a few days before we can roam the area in person, Disney hosted their live opening ceremony today — here’s what you might have missed!
The ceremony took place live on Disney Parks Blog and other Disney social media channels at 8:15PM PT (or 11:15PM ET) and kicked off with a virtual tour of Avengers Campus!

First, we got a closer look at the atmosphere of the area! The Avengers that we all know and love will be walking around campus and interacting with guests.

Not only will the characters be interacting with guests, but you may see them scaling buildings and fighting off villains!

We got a full look at the new Spider-Man attraction WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure as well.

Guests will pick up their WEB Vision glasses for the attraction…

…before hopping on the ride vehicle to help Spider-Man fight off the Spider-Bots he created. Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana showed us how it’s done!

If helping Spider-Man wasn’t enough, you’ll have to look up where you can see him flipping and flying through the sky!

Guests of Avengers Campus will be able to enter the Ancient Sanctum with Dr. Strange himself.

Dr. Strange will make appearances and help guests look for the sorcerer within. Sounds pretty cool right?

Okoye from Black Panther will also be interacting with guests.

The Dora Milaje will help you learn how to become a warrior and fighter!

After a virtual tour of Avengers Campus from Tony Stark’s creation, Friday, it was time for the live opening ceremony!

After a speech from The Walt Disney Company CEO, Bob Chapek…

…and Kevin Feige…

…there were guest appearances from Paul Rudd who plays Ant Man!

Although many of the actors who portray our favorite Marvel characters could not be there, some of them sent in videos including Brie Larson, Scarlet Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and more!

Even Jon Favreau made a special appearance!

Anthony Mackie, star of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, also made one of the coolest appearances of the entire ceremony! He walked onstage holding a bag with the Captain America shield…

…and after a heartfelt speech, he handed it off to the new Captain America.

What big opening ceremony would be complete without some fireworks! This is the first time we’ve seen fireworks at Disneyland in a very long time!

Keep in mind that, though the land is officially dedicated now, Avengers Campus won’t open in the parks until Friday, June 4th. You can watch the entire video here!
