Disney World Will Be Reinstating Cancellation Fees SOON

A lot has changed when it comes to planning a Disney World vacation over the past year.

Main Street, U.S.A.

And, due to the uncertainty that came with planning a Disney vacation during the pandemic, Disney implemented a flexible cancellation policy for those who wanted to modify or cancel their trip. The policy eliminated Disney-imposed fees for these guests, but this may not be available much longer.

The flexible cancellation policy had been extended by Disney a few times but is now set to end on April 30th, 2021. And, that’s coming up pretty soon!

Current Flexible Cancellation Policy

Unless Disney announces a new extension of the flexible cancellation policy, those with reservations booked on or after May 1st, 2021 can expect fees to apply depending on when they cancel or change their vacation.

Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club

The former cancellation policy had fees that applied to modifications made within certain timeframes. Those who canceled 30 days or more before their vacation received the most refunds (aside from non-refundable costs), those who canceled 2 to 29 days prior faced a $200 cancelation fee, and cancellations made 1 day or less prior were not able to be refunded.

Disney’s Riviera Resort

Disney has not shared an update as to whether they will reinstate the former cancellation policy or change it to a new one. But, it is important to keep in mind as you plan your Disney travel after May 1st.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

It is important to note that if you booked your vacation through a third party, then cancellation, change fees, and deadlines may be different. We will continue to keep an eye out for the latest updates and share them with you so stay tuned to AllEars!
