NEWS: Tokyo Disneyland Has Modified Its Announcements to Be More Inclusive

While we’re waiting for Disneyland in California to reopen once again, Tokyo Disneyland has been greeting guests once again!

While the park has made changes in operations with shortened hours and the inclusion of fireworks, Tokyo Disneyland is also making another huge update.

The Japan Times has reported that Tokyo Disneyland Resort has changed its greeting in order to be more inclusive. Both of the theme parks have stopped referring to visitors as “ladies and gentlemen” and “boys and girls” in their English announcements. Instead, they’re now opting for more gender-neutral terms of “hello, everyone” to be more inclusive.

According to the report, the modified announcements started on select park attraction on March 18th. Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea plan on making the announcements at all of the rides gender-neutral. The article indicates that it was important to Disney for “all guests to continue enjoying their time” in the parks, while feeling included.

Disney has also been adding more efforts based on inclusion by making it the fifth key necessary to Cast Member training. We’ll keep an eye out for any changes to announcements in the other Disney Parks soon! Stay tuned with AllEars for more Disney news!
