After nearly a year, Disneyland Resort will open to California Residents on April 30th.
But Disney is already looking to the future of Disneyland — today, the company announced a Disneyland expansion and a new community effort called DisneylandForward.
According to the new DisneylandForward website: “DisneylandForward is a multiyear public planning effort with the City of Anaheim to update existing development approvals that will allow Disney to meaningfully invest in Anaheim for years to come and meet the future demands in entertainment.”
Obviously, this brings up a lot of questions about the expansion. And there’s an entire FAQ on the DisneylandForward website seeking to answer some of these questions.
What does Disneyland have planned?
Perhaps the biggest question, though, is exactly what is being planned. The FAQ explains that this is the very beginning of the process, and mentions “the creation of integrated experiences featuring new theme park attractions, dining, retail, hotel, and more.”
It goes on to explain, though, that Disney is not seeking any public funding or any “additional square footage or hotel rooms beyond what is currently approved or allowed.”
Will Disneyland create another theme park?
Another question is about the potential for another theme park at Disneyland Resort.
The answer is that Disneyland is “not announcing any future projects at this time.” However, “These updated approvals are necessary as they will allow us to explore new integrated and immersive experiences that could include adding new theme park attractions without having to remove and replace treasured rides and attractions.”
Will DisneylandForward result in additional jobs?
The FAQ also covers the question of DisneylandForward in terms of jobs.
Here’s what it says: “DisneylandForward will allow Disney to invest in the resort area in an integrated and immersive way. Any development made possible because of DisneylandForward will in turn create jobs both during the construction phase, as well as during operations.”
You can read more answers on the DisneylandForward website, and hopefully, we’ll have even more information about the Disneyland expansion soon. And as always, we’ll keep you updated!
