Move Over, Galactic Starcruiser. A REAL Space Hotel Is on the Way

Space travel is on the way!

And no, we don’t mean Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser — although that’s on the horizon, too! And while that Disney hotel will offer immersive experiences and incredible theming, it can’t quite compare to the real thing.

But in just a few years, the “real thing” may actually exist. According to WESH, the world’s first-ever space hotel, Voyager Station, is scheduled to open in 2027! Construction should begin in 2026 on the station, which consists of 24 modules connected by elevator shafts. That giant wheel will actually orbit around Earth!

John Blincow, head of Orbital Assembly Corporation, stated, “We’re trying to make the public realize that this golden age of space travel is just around the corner.” And while the experience will be pricey at first — we’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars, potentially — he hopes it’ll eventually be like “a trip on a cruise or a trip to Disneyland.”

Even though guests will be way out in space (with some pretty awesome views), Blincow wants the trip to feel like Earth. The vacation will emphasize luxury and comfort. But there will still be some space-exclusive experiences, too: freeze-dried ice cream and unique activities involving weightlessness, to name a few.

The big plan? Tim Alatorre, senior design architect at Orbital Assembly Corporation, said the company wants to “to create a starship culture where people are going to space, and living in space, and working in space.” WOW. Sounds like a real-life Star Wars world may be closer than we think! As always, stay tuned to AllEars for more news.
