Six Flags’ TERRIFYING New Coaster Is Officially Open

We consider ourselves to be thrill ride aficionados, but when we first heard about Six Flags Over Texas’ new roller coaster, even we were a little bit terrified!

Tormenta Rampaging Run is a record-breaking giga dive coaster set to be the tallest, fastest, longest, and most inverted dive coaster on the planet. This coaster was previously set to open on June 26th, but after being delayed, Tormenta Rampaging Run is officially open!

As of July 9th, 2026, Tormenta Rampaging Run is officially open at Six Flags Over Texas! This ride is situated in the new Spanish village, Rancho de la Tormenta, and is the world’s first giga dive coaster. Tormenta blends the vertical drama of a dive coaster with the grand heights of a giga — and then piles on multiple massive inversions, including a record-breaking vertical loop.

This unique coaster is shattering SIX (6) World Records:

• Tallest Dive Coaster: 309 ft
• Highest 95 Degree Beyond Vertical Drop: 285 ft
• Fastest Dive Coaster: 87 mph
• Highest Immelmann Inversion: 218 ft
• Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop: 179 ft
• Longest Dive Coaster: 4,199 ft

Tormenta Rampaging Run elevates riders to a height of 309 feet before plummeting them down a record 285 ft at a beyond vertical 95 degrees without warning. And when Six Flags says “beyond”, it means “it’s not straight down; it’s on the other side of straight down!”

Guests can expect bright colors, festive music, and a thematic plaza called Rancho de la Tormenta in the area that’s making this ride its home. And once you’re done riding (or deciding to admire from afar), you can indulge in food, music, and Spanish-Latin flair — including the new Cocina Abuela restaurant!
