Broadway Shows Will Return to Orlando This Fall!

Entertainment has slowly, but surely, started to make its way back into theme parks and Florida in general.

Recently, we were HYPED to find out that Festival of the Lion King would be returning to Disney’s Animal Kingdom later this year. And, now we have details about MORE shows coming back to the stage soon!

Attractions Magazine has reported that Broadway will be returning to the Orlando area, starting this fall! The Florida Theatrical Association, Dr. Phillips Center, and Broadway Across America have released the seven-show line-up for the Fairwinds Broadway in Orlando series that will run from September 2021 through June 2022.

Susie Krajsa, the president of Broadway Across America, has stated, “We’re thrilled to be bringing Broadway back to the Dr. Phillips Center this fall for what will be a spectacular season. We have been working diligently with producers, booking agents and other national tour representatives to reschedule and rebuild the lineup for the Fairwinds Broadway in Orlando season.”

The Fairwinds Broadway in Orlando package will include these shows:

  • Hadestown – September 21st – September 26th, 2021
  • Tootsie – November 2nd – November 7th, 2021
  • The Prom – December 7th – December 12th, 2021
  • Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations – January 25th – January 30th, 2022
  • Disney’s Frozen – February 24th – March 6th, 2022
  • Cats – March 29th – April 3rd, 2022
  • Jesus Christ Superstar – June 7th – June 12th, 2022

The shows will take place at Walt Disney Theater. Currently, Wicked has been postponed and Hamilton and The Band’s Visit are both unable to be rescheduled at this time. However, Broadway Across America is working to schedule the shows for a future season instead.

Dr. Phillips Center President and CEO Kathy Ramsberger has also gone on to say, “We’re eagerly anticipating Broadway’s return to Orlando and are confident we have the health protocols and training in place to do so responsibly. It’s terrific to think that fans are just months away from again experiencing the wonder of Broadway.”

New subscriptions for the series are available online now, while current subscribers can add to their packages. If a show needs to cancel performances for any reason, subscribers will have multiple options available to them. More information regarding cancellations is outlined on the site.
